Of a gigantic opera [romantic]
Nirvana for a primadonna
But in my haste to catalogue and order
The notes slept back under the cover

I had this tune, a cantata
Multitude of voices and drama,
The counterpoint and rhythmic elements,
The arrangement was so tiring and draining
I could’nt cope with everything
[So I made a pop song]

I could have demo’ed a little [better later]

Oh But I could not hold on [any longer]
I had to find a publisher

Direct from the collective unconscious
To my single soul a piece so luscious
A music so gorgeous
To make me famous, illustrious

I sent it all to Sony, Warner,
Universal and a few other...
I waited right on for some reaction
But I admit I was not too persistent
I was so sure of my talent
[Come on, sing it along!]
